Matt and Andrew, the duo who make up The Sweet Jelly Rolls describe their sound as, “upbeat loud country & blues”
To get a little insight into who the Sweet Jelly Rolls are, we spoke to them about their influences, new releases and their upcoming residency at Surly’s.
Who are your influences?
Matt: “Our two favourites are Johnny Cash & Tom Petty. Other than that, we love listening to tonne of old country, blues & bluegrass. But we freakin love old metal like Black Sabbath, Ronnie James Dio & Judas Priest.”
Do you have any upcoming releases?
Matt: “We launched our brand new self-titled ep this March. The photoshoot for the record was actually done at Surly’s.”
Why are you excited about your upcoming residency at Surly’s?
Matt: “Surly’s has a place in our heart. The story of us meeting Brody is just too funny (ask us if you come out to a show).
Andrew: “We were the first ever band to play upstairs & they have been so awesome to us for a while now and we are so so stoked that they have asked us to be a part of the venue each week.”
